conservation for change

We study anti-racist and social change frameworks, while implementing a culture of practice, to impact systemic change in the field of cultural heritage. Our work includes re-imagining mentorship, cultivating teamwork, aligning mission and values with daily work functions, and connecting past and present histories.

lectures, symposia, and tours

We teach from a layers-of-looking perspective and lecture on such topics as why conservation is not neutral or purely technical; the social change movement within our field; and broadening access to our work as caretakers who touch and hold history. Our audiences range from elementary children to graduate students, from arts professionals to donors and lifelong learners.

training and leadership-building

We co-create professional development opportunities to build inclusive, flexible, and empowered work environments. Our skill-building programs offer tools for personal growth, changing power dynamics, and removing barriers to arts and cultural heritage. We also consult on a wide variety of other projects including traditional paintings conservation, research, and grant writing.

“Sarah Kleiner's unique calling and professional practice is to create safe spaces to discuss sensitive topics of race and culture, and to offer the experiences, strategies, and connections people need to be more capable professionals and more compassionate human beings.”
